Main differences between courier and parcel services

It is expected that, during this Black Friday week, delivery activity will double compared to 2016 figures, and this is only in Spain. To meet demand, parcel companies have incorporated between 6,500 and 7,000 delivery drivers throughout Spain, in addition to the 25,000 who are active during the rest of the year. This figure has been provided by the Business Organization for Logistics and Transport (UNO), predicting very good news for the logistics sector this Christmas season.

More employees in logistics for Black Friday 2017

Black Friday no longer comes as a surprise in terms of the number of workers needed. For several years now, this week has been established as the kick-off for Christmas shopping and as the days with the highest consumption of the year.

The logistics and transport sector foresees an increase of more than one million workers. This figure represents a 17.5% increase over the annual average, that is, 150,000 hires are forecast and an 11% year-on-year increase.

Key dates for the logistics sector

The three key days are coming for the logistics sector in the Christmas Campaign: Black Friday, Cyber Monday and December 11, the first Monday after the Constitution Day long weekend.

As has been the case for several years, and increasingly so, the number of shipments doubles, website visits skyrocket, calls to the customer service center increase and so does activity in all sectors that support and maintain online stores. New hires arrive in November after a training period usually carried out in October, with an increase in activity between 20% and 25% higher than at any other time of the year.

It is clear that the logistics sector is not the only one to benefit, but also all those who use or support the online store.

eCommerce increasingly better prepared

It is not only through advertising and discounts that consumers have been convinced to decide how to shop, and that the booming system is online, competing significantly with traditional shopping. Every day, fewer consumers see online shopping as a risk to their wallets or privacy, and many more see opportunity and convenience. Most of this success is due to online sales platforms, their progressive adaptation and the trust they offer today.

Transparency in privacy, the facilities and improvements in payment gateways; more secure transactions, avoiding unnecessary checks without exhausting the user; data protection and security seals; these are the factors that strengthen and drive online sales services day by day, and that make an eCommerce shine and stand out in periods as saturated as this week. All of this reinforces the importance of relying on national courier solutions capable of guaranteeing efficient deliveries even at times of greatest logistical saturation.
